In supporting the educational experiences of gifted children and youth, parents and teachers have important collaborative roles. Canadian research by Penney & Wilgosh (2000) has suggested that both parents and teachers have a strong desire to work together in the best interests of the gifted child; however their efforts can be enhanced by effective communication between home and school, understanding of each other’s perspectives and needs, awareness of family and systemic circumstances, and above all a student-centred approach to support.

This event will feature a panel of parents who have experience navigating parent-teacher partnerships throughout their children’s school years. Through a facilitated dialogue, the panelists will share their perspectives as a starting point for table talks about various aspects of parents’ roles in working relationships with teachers to support their children.

The event is free; however, you must register to secure a spot. Adults only please.
