What is contained in this resource database?

In 2019 and 2020 the GCABC Committee for Communication & Resources conducted surveys among mental health professionals in BC. The goal was to find professionals who have experience working with gifted children and adults. The survey resulted in a BC roadmap for services and support, and two versions of a directory of professionals for gifted adults and children.

In Spring 2022 a third survey of professionals was completed with the help of a few student volunteers from the Vancouver campus of Adler University. The updated directory is more extensive and contains detailed information about 65 professionals, all working with gifted children, adolescents, couples, families and/or adults.

This 2022 version is updated and expanded in several ways:

  • There are 15 more Registered Psychologists, Clinical Counsellors, Registered Clinical Social Workers and Occupational Therapists from more areas across BC
  • Updated information about which professionals offer online services

Click on the link below to download the PDF version of the Directory of Professionals.  It contains responses from professionals on the type of training and experience they have working with gifted clients, as well as contact and basic professional information.  To learn more, see the listed websites or contact the professionals directly.  Note: the meanings of the abbreviations for professional credentials listed with the professionals’ names are explained at the top of the document.

For professionals who would like to be added to this directory, please email us at info@giftedchildrenbc.org. We will reply to you as soon as possible within our volunteer duties, and this directory will be updated periodically.

Families may need or want access to many professionals in schools and in the community to help support them and their children.  If you would like some information on who those professionals may be and the scope of their professional work, please see the “Gifted Navigation” page.

GCABC has put together this list based on the service providers’ own confirmations of their contact information and areas of focus for their practice. We are not accountable for the accuracy of this information and we encourage persons viewing this list to verify the contact information and areas of focus through other means, such as through the professional colleges.
